I have an Evnex E2, and I have a Sigenergy home battery with a 5kW inverter. When I get home at night I want to be able to use the Charge Now function on my E2, but currently it charges at full speed (7.3kW), so 5kW comes from my battery and 2.3kW gets imported from grid.
Is it possible to set a charge rate on the Charge Now function so that it pulls no more than 5kW (or some lower number)? The only other way I can think of to achieve this is to set it in the car…
I think that might be more of a setting with your battery? With mine I can set it to hold and it won’t discharge so the charger will pull from the grid. But I’m trying to do the opposite, I’m trying to pull from my battery and not the grid.
Thanks for getting in touch. Currently this is not possible for the charge now command, although we could set a load profile on your charger by the hour so when your vehicle is plugged in and in charge behaviour it will only offer 5kW to the vehicle. Say from 9pm -12am you can set the profile for 5kW and if you have a schedule for the charger to charge during this time the charger will only offer 5kW.
Using the charge now will override the load profile.
If you email support@evnex.com our team will be able to help you with this.
As Fook mentioned, you might need to set your battery to not discharge during these hours.
It will all depend on where the supply to the charger is taken from. If it is after the solar battery gateway, it will take from the battery at night. If it is before the solar battery gateway, it shouldn’t drain the battery.
This will depend on the house and other factors such as power coming from sub-boards and a solar battery being upstream from the charger. Sometimes it is not possible to wire the charger to take supply before the solar battery gateway. If you email support@evnex.com we can help to check this for you.
Just confirming - the profile on the charger you are talking about is not a user-set profile, but one set by the Evnex team? How does this work, when I plug the car in in the evenings, it defaults to “solar” mode so it will say “waiting for more sun”. Are you saying that the charger will be reconfigured so that if I plug the car in say from 9pm-12am it will automatically start charging at 5kw?, but other times it will do the “waiting for more sun” thing?
Both parties can do it, you can also set the load profile from our web page https://app.evnex.io/, our support team can send you instructions if you open a ticket. Otherwise, we can set it for you.
In short, yes, you are correct.
There are two elements in play here, one is the load profile/current limit set by the hour for the charger (say 25A from 9pm -12am set in the load management page from the URL above).
The second is the charger behaviour set in the charging settings via the app, where you can specify the charger’s mode for a scheduled time.
So, in your case, you would have two daily schedules in the app with two different modes:
12am - 9pm - Charge behaviour - Solar
9pm -12am - Charge behaviour - Charge (will be limited to 25A during this period)
