A few days back I discovered that our Polestar2 had been charged to 100% due to this being inadvertently set on the Evnex app on my phone. Two issues in play there.
Firstly why is the app display so easy to have the maximum charging level changed? A single misplaced finger is enough to increase the charge level setting. This is a recent change in the functionality of the app if I recall correctly.
But more annoyingly why has the Evnex EVSE been given the ability to override the maximum charge level as set in the vehicle?
An unscheduled journey to ‘burn off’ the excess charge level was required but if the software involved was set up correctly this wouldn’t have happened.
Hi there.
Evnex AC chargers don’t have any way to read the state of charge from a vehicle and no controls to set the cutoff so I’m not quite sure what has happened here but it won’t be from the Evnex end.
The only possibility I can think of is that the car was already set to a 100% maximum but previously your scheduled charging window was short enough that you never got to 100%, and then the duration was increased so this time you did?
Kind regards,
Tom
Having just gone into my phone I’ve realised that the charge level setting is actually on the Polestar app, which actually overrides the level set in the car. When the car charged to 100% recently the 90% limit set in the car was still set and visible on the car’s display when it was at 100% charge.
Sorry about my misunderstanding. I’ll raise the issue with Polestar.
ETA. Having visted the Polestar Forum the Polestar community have discovered this issue and formulated a solution by restricting the charge levels that can be set via the app, so problem solved.
Thanks for letting us know!
